Yarmouth Sailing Club sits next to the swing bridge over the River Yar at the western end of the Isle of Wight. It’s a friendly, informal, inclusive club with over 950 members run on a volunteer basis. It is an RYA Training Centre and as such delivers sail training to its members. Scow 100 event
Organised by Pete Giles the celebration of the Scows 100th anniversary in the West Wight was an outstznding riot of colour, photos, friends, sails, food and enjoyment.
Needles Quest sail
The Junior sailors that could not make the sail around the Island in the club Quest dinghies last year were instead invited to sail to the Needles a few weeks ago. The wind and tide were just about right so they actually sailed past the Needles and experienced a few large waves from the inevitable swell. The sail back was with the tide and happened with speed. Smiles all round apart from the 4.15am meet time. Amazingly it was the day that the Northern Lights were visible and there will be some amazing photos of it in the Gallery section soon.
