Junior Race Training

Junior Race Training (JRT)
Junior Race Training meets every Sunday from Easter to October half term and is aimed at children that are likely RYA Stage 4 and who can demonstrate tacking, gybing and sailing upwind, and are up for the challenge of developing these skills further and learning the basics of racing.
Sessions take place weekly on Sundays in the River Yar (time dictated by the tide) and include knowledge and understanding of boat handling, racing rules, tactics, and starts.
JRT squad is entirely volunteer-run and parent participation is essential. This may be by crewing a patrol boat, providing shore-based support, helping with the launch and recovery of the dinghies, or tidying up afterwards.
The cost of participating in JRT is £40 per year which includes the use of club dinghies and coaching. You must be a member of Yarmouth Sailing Club in order to participate. Places are limited and priority is given to those who have mastered the basics of sailing and are in the after-school club.
If you wish to take part in JRT to develop your sailing and racing skills, please discuss your interest with Martin Palmer on 07561447043.
